I've a fan of this restaurant for decades now. It's authentic, made by the old man himself. It's one of those mom and pop shops and very clean and cute.

They basically have everything Japanese cuisine can offer like variety of dons, ramen, sushi, etc. Their set menus are really good. It's not like other Japanese bento boxes. Their set menus have homemade meal feel to it, carefully crafted. They used to be known for the spicy garilc ramen noodles. Their ramens are served in a huge bowl almost looks like wash basin. I also like their katudon and tempura. They are battered and fried really well. Sushi is pretty standard. Basically, anything you order from this doesn't disappoint.

It's a BYOB restaurant and good for friends and family or low key date nights.

There are a lot of choices.
We are Chirashi, Katsu Curry, Shushi Roll and Tempra
    Una Ju with Udon.

All were good taste and reasonable price !

I recommend to visit ASAHI Restaurant.
It is under new management and new menus for who knows old ASAHI.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese ramen don't waste your time and money. It is worst ramen I have ever had in my life. I asked the waitress what's the popular ramen and she recommended clear seafood ramen. It came with a huge bowl and looked pretty good but once I tasted it fish smell was pretty bad. I think they used old frozen seafood instead of fresh ones. Well..for $15 for a ramen I think they could have made it better. Definitely not fresh ones and I couldn't taste nothing but spoiled fish. It was like eating plain noodles with spoiled fish. After I leave the restaurant I had to grab something to eat to get that fish smell out. I hope I don't get sick. Waitress suggested to try spicy ramen next time but sorry there won't be next time. I didn't even wanted to give 1 star wish there was a way to give 0 star.

If you live around  Fort lee and Cliffside Park aria long enough, you remember this restaurant. Now we can find many ramen noodle shop such as Batten, Sandaime, Azuma and more, but Asahi was only place could eat ramen noodle long time ago.
I feel nostalgic when I eat this shoyu Ramen. Not only ramen, but Sushi is also so good. I did not eat sushi time, but I always order Chirashi. Please try!
